Will Smith hit it big over the weekend with "I Am Legend," which has taken in $137 million in just two weeks - but if producers had had their way, the film would have starred Arnold Schwarzenegger.

An insider who once headed a movie company said, "That script was floating around Hollywood for 12 years. Arnold was originally attached to it right after the box office success of 'Terminator 2,' but all of a sudden he decided he wasn't interested and the project was shelved."

Instead, Schwarzenegger went on to star in "Last Action Hero" and "Collateral Damage" before becoming California's governor.
