Britney Spears paid $12,000 for a top-secret liposuction session in a bid to get her old pre-baby body back, according to reports.

The 'Toxic' singer sneaked off to Nevada at the weekend with her cousin Alli Sims for revolutionary 'Smartlipo' treatment at the Minoli Plastic Surgery Clinic & Spa.

The 25-year-old mother-of-two spent five hours under the care of Dr John Minoli on the same day rapper Kanye West's mother died following complications from a plastic surgery procedure.

Spears chose Minoli for the extensive treatment because, according to the National Enquirer, she was more than happy with the work he had done on her back in April, during another top-secret session.

Minoli uses lasers to break down fat during his Smartlipo sessions.

According to the National Enquirer, he charges up to $4,000 per area and claims his treatments permanently destroy fat cells and tighten the skin. His surgery leaves no scars or stitches.

According to pals, Spears is already asking 'Gimme More'. One source tells the publication: "She wants her perky pre-baby boobs back."

"As far as boys go, I don't need 'em. I want a man," Simpson, 27, told the ladies of "The View" on Thursday.

"Somebody who's a really great family guy," she added. "Like if a kid were to come up to him and tug on his shirt, he'd pick him up and twirl him around. I definitely love a family man, a guy that's not afraid to pick up the babies. ... Somebody that wants to meet my grandparents immediately. I think all those characteristics are what make a man attractive."

She also wants a guy who won't be intimidated her success.

"I think mentally, I need a guy that can really have a strong, confident woman," she said.

As for money, it can't buy her love.

"I got that covered," she said, laughing.

But there is one physical attribute she's looking for.

"If he has a cute butt, that's all right," she added.

Tom Cruise is being tipped to star as Playboy founder Hugh Hefner in a new movie.

Hollywood sources say the Top Gun actor is wanted to play the 81-year-old adult magazine publisher in an upcoming biopic. Film-maker Brett Ratner, who has been hired to direct the flick, is said to have sent the script to Cruise.

A source revealed: “He is eyeing the role of Hef. Cruise is tickled by the project, although no decision has been made.”

Oliver Stone was in the running to direct the Universal Pictures production, but was recently replaced by Ratner.

The film - which has the working title Playboy - will chart the life story of Hefner, who founded Playboy Enterprises in 1953.

Cruise, 45, can currently be seen on screen in anti-war drama Lions for Lambs alongside Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

A spokeswoman for Cruise told a US newspaper: “A lot of people consider Tom for a lot of roles.”

American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee is engaged to actor Nick Cokas, sources tell PEOPLE.

McPhee, 23, recently has been showing off a ring from Cokas, 42. They have been dating for more than a year.

"Katharine is bubbling over with excitement for her upcoming wedding," a source says. "She is all smiles when she talks about the planning. It sounds like everything is going very smoothly."

The couple met in 2005 when they performed in a Los Angeles theater production of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. Their union began as a friendship, McPhee told PEOPLE last year.

"He took me up to my San Francisco (Idol) audition," McPhee said. That's when their relationship blossomed. "We totally fell in love," she said.

As for the 19-year age difference, McPhee says that "was never really a concern." The two connect because "he just makes things really fun" and "we love business. We love going to meetings together and create things together."

Case in point: the two will join forces on an upcoming independent film titled The Last Caller. McPhee will star in the dark romantic comedy and Cokas will produce.

Like many things in her life, Natalie Portman doesn't take the idea of getting married lightly.

"I'm not convinced about marriage," the actress, 26, tells In Style in its December issue. "Divorce is so easy, and that fact that gay people are not allowed to marry takes much of the meaning out of it. ... Committing yourself to one person is sacred."

Not that she's opposed to the commitments and challenges of a relationship outside of marriage. The star of Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, who has been linked this year with fashion entrepreneur Nathan Bogle, declines to discuss her romantic life in detail, but she says in general that her ideal partner is "someone who pulls me up to high standards, and who is aware of what's going on in themselves and in the world."

That awareness of the world, in particular, is a major theme for Portman, whose extensive travels, she says, have taught her to respect the Earth and its environment. "If we can find ways to love life and be joyful without being wasteful or destructive – that's what's important," she says.

One part of that, for Portman, involves being a vegetarian – from head to toe. "Every time I dress I know I'm not wearing leather, and that's a great feeling," she says.

For help in achieving her goals, personal and professional, she says she relies on mentors. "Yes, absolutely," she says. "My parents, of course, but there's guidance that can't come from them. Parents are protective. Other mentors say, 'Go do it, show 'em and see how you feel.' "
