Sara Evans gets married this weekend in Tennessee

I received an e-mail this morning from a Sara Evans fan who wanted to let me know that the award-winning country singer was married this weekend.

Last week in my "Going Gonzo" blog I wondered whether the former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant would be married by the time she arrived for her July 24 concert at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park.

Looks like the answer is "yes."

According to People magazine, Evans, 37, and former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker, 35, were married Saturday during an outdoor ceremony at a farm in Franklin, Tenn. Sheryl Crow was among the 145 guests arriving for the wedding.

According to People, Evans wore an ivory silk taffeta Vera Wang gown with a halter neck.

As you recall, Evans and former husband Craig Schelske endured a very public and bitter divorce last year after 14 years of marriage. The timing of the split caused her to drop out of "Dancing with the Stars." Her divorce was finalized in September 2007. Evans and Barker were engaged in March.

I received an e-mail last week from a fan who was surprised Evans would remarry so soon.

"Tell me it isn't true," the fan said of my speculation that she would be re-married soon. "The ink on her divorce papers isn't dry yet, (but) yet she is getting married in the manner that she is? Very disappointing ... she definitely lost me as a fan."

Tickets for Evans' show at Meijer Gardens still are available. They are $60 for members and $62 for non-members. Last year, she performed at B-93's Birthday Bash -- a free, two-day event -- in front of 60,000 fans. Capacity at the Gardens is 1,750. via
