After weeks of rumors running rampant and stories of mid-air proposals, New England Patriots [team stats] QT/QB Tom Brady [stats] and his glamazon galpal Gisele Bundchen are engaged, People.com reports today.

The sidelined Brady proposed on Friday night with a diamond solitaire. No word if a bended knee was involved.

“He asked and she accepted,” a source close to the couple told the mag. An official announcement as well as preliminary wedding details are being planned by Bundchen and some of her closest pals.

“The couple is discussing a huge fashionista event in the spring or a more intimate and quicker ceremony in Costa Rica where Gisele has a home,” the source added.

Family and friends were allegedly given the good word over the weekend. But neither Bundchen’s agent nor her twin sister, Patricia, would comment on the impending nups.

Tom and Gi hooked up in 2006 while the Patriots’ MVP was ending his relationship to his long-time galpal Bridget Moynahan. She gave birth to the couple’s son, Jack, in August 2007. via
