According to the Gary Post-Tribune, Joe Jackson charged the city of Gary, Indiana $5000 to grace them with his presence at Michael Jackson’s memorial service in their hometown. Mayor Rudy Clay believes that the event honoring the late singer will bring a profit to the town once all donations are counted. He said “It turned out beautiful and great and we’re not using taxpayers’ money so we should be given a blue ribbon for prudence.” No they shouldn’t after expecting profit from donations! It’s unknown whether the money given to Joe and the music group the Chi-Lites was for travel expenses but it’s still a crappy deal to me.
